Western North Carolina’s tourism-based economy is in trouble because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The people here need help. And they need someone in Congress who will fight for them. That’s why Colonel Moe Davis (USAF, Ret.) has earned an endorsement from former presidential candidate and entrepreneur Andrew Yang, whose Humanity Forward organization is working to create a more human-centered economy.
“Colonel Moe Davis is a leader in every sense of the word,’’ Yang said. “He is a retired Air Force Colonel and former Director of the Air Force Judiciary. For his service, he has been awarded the prestigious Legion of Merit, and six Meritorious Service Medals, among other honors. Humanity Forward and I are proud to endorse Colonel Moe Davis for Congress in North Carolina’s 11th District!
“Col. Davis also served as Chief Prosecutor for Terrorism Trials at Guantanamo Bay, where he refused an order from the Bush administration to use evidence obtained through torture. That decision was emblematic of who Col Davis is — someone who always puts service and principle above self. In Congress, Col. Davis will fight to get everyone monthly stimulus checks as the first step to rebuild from this economic crisis. His voice is one that we need in Congress.”
Col. Davis supports efforts to get direct aid to the people who need it most so they can survive until the spread of the pandemic is reduced and under control.
“There’s no place prettier than Western North Carolina, but right now folks here are struggling as a result of the economic impact of COVID-19,’’ Col. Davis said. “I’m proud to have earned the endorsement of Andrew Yang and I share his vision of not bailing out big corporations but providing direct financial relief to the families here in this district and the small businesses that are struggling as a result of the pandemic. Together, we can get through this and to the other side so we can have better days here in Western North Carolina.”
Col. Davis served 25 years in the Air Force and worked as a national security specialist for Congress, law professor at Howard University and judge with the U.S. Department of Labor before announcing a run for Congress in November.
