Moe Davis optimistic in face of Republican focus on district

Democratic Congressional candidate Moe Davis isn’t too worried about a recent influx of Republican spending and attention to the 11th District in the home stretch of the election.Davis says visits by President Donald Trump and his son, Donald Trump Jr., as well as $150,000 in “attack ads” all in the span of just a handful of weeks shows the GOP is worried about the race for Mark Meadows’ vacated seat.

“I don’t think they’d be expending that kind of effort if they thought they had it in the bag,” Davis said, citing polling from July that showed him with a double-digit lead over Republican opponent Madison Cawthorn, who has also appeared at several events in the county recently.

With less than seven weeks to Election Day, Davis is pointing to the redrawn district, which he says has changed the math considerably.
